A little bit about me. I'm a law student with a love for hymnody. If
you're not familiar with the term, it refers to both the composition
and singing of hymns. I'm not a composer, but I love singing hymns and
learning their histories. So many composers wrote incredible words in
times of deep distress. So many hymns have carried the saints through
excruciating trials.
The vast majority of my blog posts will be of hymns. The usual format
will be an introduction of the title, writer, tune, and composer, then
any interesting anecdotes about the writing or history of the hymn,
followed by my own reasons for enjoying that hymn, followed by the full
words of the hymn.
The name of the blog, "Garcia, et al." reflects some humor from law school, the idea that hymns are best sung with others, and my hope that some of my hymnodist friends will at some point contribute to this blog as well.
